Who:
  • The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) created guidelines to increase and improve use and integration into K-12 education.

What:
  • The ISTE first introduced the NETS (National Educational Standards and Performance Indicators) in 1998. Since then the NETS have been revisited and revised. The current set of standards were revised in 2007. There are 3 levels or sets of Standards, those for Students, for Teachers and for Administrators. With each set of standards there are 5 (for Teachers and Administrators) or 6 (for Students) broad categories that should be introduced, practiced and mastered.

Why:
  • Awareness of these standards and areas of learning teachers can be better equipped and cognizant ofways to include and incorporate technology education into their lessons and activities for their classes and students.

How:
  • This Learning Module is designed to introduce teachers to the NETS standards and offer resources for further information and tools that will aid them in meeting these standards themselves and within their classrooms.
